Shacking Up by Helena Hunting

Blurb:

Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.
Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.
Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Yup, I definitely got what I had hoped for - I laughed a lot, I swooned a bit, I was upset, I grinned goofily (and stupidly) and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Ruby and Bane, even though they are both part of the upper class with all its attitude, its arrogance and its stiffness, are both a bit different. Both are trying to find their own way and live their own life instead of just following the rules and expectations of their class. Whereas Bancroft has the support of his family in doing so, Ruby's family, well, let's just say that her father won't get a "Dad of the Year"-badge.

When Bane causes Ruby to fail spectacularly at an audition (Long story, don't ask!) which leaves her unemployed and unfortunately as a consequence also homeless, he offers her the position as a pet-sitter for his rather unusual pets while he is on a business trip.
Many, many phone calls and video chats (not all of them G-rated) later, as well as many many laughing fits later, Ruby is still living at Bane's place and Bane is determined to keep her there even when he comes back.
Some complications and misunderstandings later, meddlesome relatives included, some more swoon-worthy action happens to take place and....we're off for our happily ever after. Or not. Maybe?

I really laughed so often so hard, even when I was just thumbing through the book trying to write this review I stopped here and there and read a bit and laughed a lot. You know, when a book is so good that when you close it, certain sentences or scenes come to mind and you just sit there and giggle or dream a bit... Well, I did a lot of giggling like that after reading this book. And thinking of Ruby cuddling with Franny.....*sigh* So. Sweet.*sigh again*

This was my first book by Helena Hunting but it won't be my last. I really enjoyed reading this book from the first page till the very last and I know that I'll read this book again. And again. And... if you want to know what all this fuss is about - read it! It's amazing!
